In 1945 the Naval Air Test Center was established followed by the establishment of the U. S. Navy Test Pilot School in 1948. In 1992 the Naval Air Station was reorganized as the Naval Air Warfare Center Division (NAWCAD) and became the home of Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).
