Robins Air Force Base (AFB) is located in central Georgia and is the largest single site industrial complex in Georgia. Robins AFB is home to multiple missions under multiple commands, all working together to defend America. Major units include the headquarters of the Air Force Reserve Command; the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex; the 116th Air Control Wing; the 461st Air Control Wing; the 78th Air Base Wing; the 5th Combat Communications Group; and the 638th Supply Chain Management Group. There are also a number of Defense Logistics Agency and AF Life Cycle Management Center activities, as well as smaller units and organizations important to the base, AF, and Department of Defense (DOD).
The 78th Air Base Wing (ABW) is the host unit at Robins AFB and has operated there since 1941. It is responsible for many services associated with a large base, including force protection, emergency response and management, medical services, airfield operations, facility operations and maintenance, communications, logistics readiness, morale and welfare, legal, environmental management, public affairs and support functions. The base covers over 6,935 square acres and employs almost 22,000 military, government civilian, and contract personnel. The Air Logistics Center is the largest operation on the base and performs depot-level maintenance and repairs on a variety of Air Force equipment and weapons systems, including the C-5 Galaxy, C-130 Hercules, F-15 Strike Eagle, several Special Operations Forces aircraft, and the Predator and Reaper. It also provides space for contract C-17 Globemaster III repairs.
As part of the 78th ABW, the 78th Engineer Group is responsible for providing, operating, maintaining, restoring, and protecting the managed assets of the Robins AFB infrastructure and facilities. This includes environmental stewardship, real estate management, comprehensive and space management, energy and utility systems, roads and grounds, military family housing, facility maintenance and repair in-house and by contract, fire emergency services, and readiness and emergency management services.
